I love popcorn.
It’s my vice; it’s the one snack I always need to have when I’m watching a movie, reading a book, or just looking for something to snack on. It’s light, it’s delicious, and it’s flexible! Whether you like it sweet or salty, popcorn is one of those snacks that you can have either way, and it still tastes delicious.
One of my new favorite popcorn creations is a little on the sweeter side, but it satisfies that craving without going overboard, and there’s no sugar added – well, except for whatever sugar is found in the cocoa powder (which because I use semi-sweet, there isn’t much.)
On medium heat, pop some popcorn on the stove using a pot with a lid, some oil (I used coconut oil), and popcorn kernels. Once the kernels begin to pop, place the lid on and gently begin to shake the pot, while still keeping it on the hot element. Once the popping slows down, turn off the element and remove the pot from heat. Take the lid off, and voila – popcorn!
In a separate bowl, mix together some coconut shavings and cocoa powder. Throw the popped kernels into another bowl, and use the still heated pot to melt some more coconut oil.
Drizzle the melted oil onto the freshly popped kernels, and then toss the popcorn with the coconut shavings and cocoa powder.
And this, is what you’re left with! Delicious, not overly sweet, coconutty, chocolatey flavored popcorn.
Popcorn is one of those snacks that you can indulge in without guilt – in moderation, of course.
Making your popcorn using your stove top and kernels is also a healthier method; you stay away from the pre-packaged, pre-buttered and pre-salted popcorn.
But don’t take my word for it, let me know what you think once you make some for yourself!
