It’s that time of the month again.
No, I’m not talking about THAT time of the month – ipsy’s January Glam Bag has arrived!
To be completely honest, I’m not thrilled with everything in this month’s bag. You win some, you lose some I suppose.
I’m utterly in love with the bag that it came in – those glasses! It’s very Warhol.
1. Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil
Probably my favorite product in this month’s bag. It’s a cleansing oil, but unlike other oil based cleansers, it doesn’t leave that residue. It doesn’t have a strong, clinical smell; it’s quite fresh and light. Normally when I use oils to remove my eye makeup, my eyes HATE me within minutes. To my surprise, my eyes were not in horrible pain after using it; I consider this a win. I think this is a product I would buy on the regular.
2. Hanalei Sugar Lip Scrub
Just your typical lip scrub; it has a nice light scent and it isn’t too harsh on my lips, but it didn’t taste very good when it entered my mouth. Obviously, I know you’re not supposed to ingest it, but sometimes it happens (especially when your lips are chapped as all hell and you’re trying not to scream while rubbing coarse sugar all over them). But otherwise, I’d use this again. Honestly, I prefer my homemade coconut oil brown sugar lip scrub.
3. Pixi by Petra || Mineral Eyeshadow Duo in Lavender Bloom
The pigments in this eyeshadow are legit. So bright and poignant! The only problem I have with it, is that I rarely wear such bold colors on my eyes. Eyeliner is one thing; I’ll pop a bit of color on the lid with liner, but I’m not one to go ahead and wear a smokey eye. Perhaps this was my invitation to the wonderful world of eyeshadow.
4. Mr. Write (Now) || The Balm Eyeliner in Scott B. Bordeaux
This. This I
like love. I tend to wear either a black or very dark/cocoa brown eyeliner, so I was stoked to get this rich, dark burgundy. Luckily, it’s a very dark purple and it looks almost brown. It makes my green eyes pop – it’s that little bit of color I was referring to back in the previous comment. Just enough to make my eyes stand out, but not enough to make people look twice in horror.
Pick and choose your eye battles.
5. Skone Cosmetics Smudger Brush
I’m not overly thrilled with this brush, but it does its job. It’s a smudger brush, used to – you guessed it – smudge and blend. Personally, I think this would be a great brush to use if you use gel liners, or if you’re a fan of wearing a smoky eye. I don’t know how much use I’ll get from this brush, but, thanks?
So that’s January.
Like I said, not my favorite, but 3/5 ain’t bad.
If you’re new to ipsy, or have been hesitant, don’t let this deter you from signing up! It really is a great company, and a great way to try out new brands/products that you didn’t think you would in the first place.
