The lip scrub is, in my opinion, the most underrated beauty product.
This just baffles me; they’re the easiest beauty hack for keeping your lips soft and kissable, and they’re easy (not to mention inexpensive!) to make yourself!
I’m notorious for getting dry, chapped lips in the cold weather. It’s not even really that cold out now, but already I’m starting to feel the dryness creep onto my lips.
But not to worry – honey lemon lip scrub to the rescue!
Up here in Canada, us Canadians know winter, and last year we really lucked out. It was mild, very little snow (except for a few crazy storms), and overall a pretty short season. This year, though, is predicted to be very different. Winter is coming, my friends, and it’s back with a vengance.
PS. You all need to know that as soon as I typed that, I jokingly told Siri to set a reminder for me to not quit my day job to pursue my dream of writing movie tag lines. Yikes.
Anyway, the point is, I want to share my recipe for the only lip scrub you’ll need this winter:
Honey Lemon Lip Scrub
The lemon essential oil is what really makes this extra special.
I’ve only just started dabbling in the wonderful world of essential oils, but I do believe the hype around them is there for a reason. Lemon essential oil is great at purifying skin and cleansing toxins from your body. It’s loaded with Vitamin C, so it’s super nourshing for your lips (as well as your skin) during times you need it most.. like in the winter.. see where this is going?
The lemon oil isn’t necessary in making the lip scrub, but I chose to add it in for those extra benefits. The little bit of oil in the lemon zest does work some of its own magic.
I can’t get over how easy this is to make.
Put all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix it together.
THAT. IS. IT.
Once you’re done, go ahead and slather it on your lips and give it a good scrub in small, circular motions.
You can, as I mentioned, use this on your face too. The sugar is quite coarse, so if you’re going to use it on your face, just do it gently.
Not only does this scrub smell great, it TASTES great. No more are the days of gross tasting lip scrubs full of chemicals and whatever else cosmetic companies decide to throw in there. The simplest of ingredients often make the best products, and this is definitely no exception.
This is hands down my new obsession. It leaves my lips super soft and smooth, and tastes delicious should I happen to get it in my mouth.
It happens more often than not.
I’m a mess sometimes.
I just popped the lip scrub into a little mason jar I had, and voila!
I would recommend keeping this in the fridge, due to the fresh ingredients.
Do you have any winter beauty hacks? I’d love to hear them.
