Weeeee, it’s FRI-YAYYY! That means it’s the weekend in one more sleep. Actually.. it doesn’t mean anything to me; I work every Wednesday – Saturday night.. so.. my weekends are always Sunday – Tuesday.. but, for the rest of the world, WEEKEND!
I’ve recently gotten a few comments on Instagram and Twitter about my skin, mostly about how it’s so flawless and looks so youthful. Well, shucks! Thanks! Y’all can’t see it, but I’m blushing; really, I am.
For the record, I’d like to state that have horrible skin. It’s dry, I’m prone to breakouts under stress or hormonal changes, and there’s a redness that I just can’t seem to tone down. I don’t know what you’re all talking about, so, I’m just gonna assume y’all are crazy.
My skincare routine is really simple. There’s no magic product that just fixes all of the bad things, but I do believe that sticking with products that work is the best way to get a clearer complexion. The thing that works for me and my skin type?
Tea tree oil.
This stuff is SO GOOD. Especially the face mask. And the face wash. And just tea tree oil in general.
Okay, I’m getting a little ahead of myself here.. let’s back up. The three products I use on my face (almost) daily are…
Tea Tree Face Mask || The Body Shop
This stuff is legit. You can use it on your entire face, and it’s gentle enough to not dry out your skin. I tend to use mine as more of a spot treatment. Pop it on for about ten minutes (give or take, or at least until it’s dry), and then wash it off. It helps with redness and breakouts and gets rid of all the nasty stuff that’s just kinda lingering on your face. Blah.
Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash || The Body Shop
I use this stuff twice a day; once in the morning when I wake up, and once at night right after I take off my makeup. After about a month of using this cleanser (and this cleanser only), I noticed that my skin cleared up more than it did when I was using a specific acne control face wash! You don’t need much of the product, and your skin feels so tingly and clean when you’re done. Highly recommending this cleanser!
Drops of Youth Concentrate || The Body Shop
This is probably the most expensive product in my routine, but it’s so worth it. I only use this little guy once a day, and that’s right before bed. After I’ve finished taking off my makeup and washing my face, a little drop of this serum goes a long way. It’s made from plant stem cells and helps your skin regenerate cells of its own, all while making your skin SO DAMN SOFT IT’S INSANE. After only a week, I started to notice my skin looking smoother and I could swear my skin tone evened out a little.
By now, I’m sure you’ve figured out my secret (which really isn’t much of a secret since I’m pretty much shouting it at you)…
TEA TREE OIL!
Trust me when I say this is SO good for your skin. It’s a purifier, so it’s great for acne, or any small bacterial infections, cuts, cold sores, and even psoriasis (which I have a little bit of). If you can, I’d recommend getting a little bottle of the oil on its own. Every time I see a new zit trying to poke it’s way out of my face, I’ll put some tea tree oil on a cotton swab and apply it directly onto the red little bump. It’s magic in a bottle.
Coming in at a close second, secret #2: The Body Shop! They have amazing products for such reasonable prices. Without breaking the bank I’m able to use products that are made to solve my skin problems. The ladies who work at the one I usually go to are super knowledgable, and haven’t steered me wrong yet. Plus, their products smell SO GOOD. I’ve got a mango shower gel right now, and it’s deviiiiine.
So that’s my big secret: tea tree oil, and products that contain it. Nothing crazy. It’s available at pretty much any drug store and it’s not horribly overpriced. A little bottle will last FOR-EV-ER.
