My ipsy February glam bag!
I was more than surprised yesterday afternoon to see it in the mail a few days before it usually arrived.
Let’s take a peek inside, shall we?
Okay, first of all, how cute is this bag? At first it looked beaded, but on second glance, I knew that ipsy wouldn’t send out thousands of beaded bags.
Too bad, though.
The back of the bag is a plastic material in a bright hot pink. Different than the material bags I’ve gotten lately, but I like it! I love finding ways to use the bags, and I’ve already transferred some of my personal items from a bigger, bulkier bag into this one, and it takes up much less room in my already oversized bag.
Based on the products inside this month, I’m pretty sure they’re hinting that glitter is in, but.. I beg to differ.
Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of glitter makeup. A little shimmer here and there, yeah that’s fine, but I’m more of a classic gal – straight, bold lines and simple colours.
That doesn’t stop me from trying out what I get from ipsy, though, and sometimes – just sometimes – I’m pleasantly surprised and it changes my opinion on things!
So.. let’s take a closer look.
1. MOR Hand and Body Lotion // Candied Vanilla
I’m not usually one to like scented body lotions, but this one smells amaaaazing. I already have an obsession with Bath and Body Works antibacterial hand sanitizers, so adding this to the list is going to make it worse. I think this is one of those hand creams that I’ll keep in my purse but never use – I’m more of the “oh this is good for my skin so I’ll use the non-scented one that hydrates” girl, but I suppose it doesn’t hurt to have a fun, fragrant hand cream in your purse.
2. Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment Eyeshadow // Sierra Nevada #05 Espresso Brown
There were two different colours that were available this month – the Espresso Brown that I got, and shimmering nude in a champagne-y colour. I wish I received the latter. Not that I’m against dark colours, but I prefer a pop of shimmer. I tried it out yesterday, and it’s a beautiful colour, but I don’t think it’s for me. I’m sure I’ll use it if I’m getting ready for a night out on the town, or a party, or going somewhere dimly lit that requires a smokey eye, but it’s definitely not for daily use. At least, not for me, anyway.
Maybe I’ll change my mind one day.
3. VINTAGE by Jessica Liebeskind Sparkling Lipgloss // Pink Sequin
I’m more of a dark, matte lip colour girl. And this lipgloss, even though it looks like a nice, pink shimmer, gives off an almost gold look when worn. It’s super moisturizing though – a little sticky, but that’s to be expected.
I’m not thrilled, but I’m sure I’ll be able to find use for it – maybe to glimmer up a nude colour, or to prop a door open. We’ll see.
4. Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Primer Oil
I love Smashbox.
I love primer.
This product is perfect.
A little bit goes a long way with this product. I put a few drops on my face before putting my makeup on for the day yesterday, and I was pleasantly surprised (well, not really, considering Smashbox is a smash regardless!) that it lasted all day. I think the real surprise was that it didn’t leave my face feeling oily or greasy.
Highly recommend this product!
5. Luxie Beauty Flat Definer Brush
Makeup brushes are never a bad thing to have too many of.
The bristles are soft: still tight enough that they’ll give you a precise, thin line, but will also blend out your shadow, depending on what look you’re going for. It’s a decently versatile brush.
I’m not disappointed in the slightest with this get.
