I’ve been blogging for over a YEAR now.
*cue hired singers to sing ‘Happy Birthday’*
For those of you who know me personally, you know that that’s a big deal. I’ll often start up a project (crocheting, cross stitching, eating healthy.. those kinds of things) and it’ll be great for the first little while, but I’ll eventually fall off the wagon.
There are very few things I’ve done for over a year.
I’m kind of impressed with myself.
So impressed, actually, that I bought myself a cupcake to celebrate my one year blogging mark!
I’ve learned a lot in the last year, actually; about myself and about blogging.
I’ve learned that blogging takes more hard work than imagined. It’s all about planning and organizing, keeping things on schedule, researching, and long hours staring at a computer screen, mumbling nonsense under your breath because your blog theme won’t customize the way you want it to.
I’ve learned that I’m capable to take on many tasks – work, school, blog, social life – and be able to somehow juggle them all. I got a new phone number and realized who it was I actually talked to and made a conscious effort to strengthen these relationships even more.
I’ve learned that I’m happiest when I’m doing things for others. Even the little things; buying someone a coffee, making dinner, and baking little treats just because.
I’m also pretty damn happy when I’m with my boyfriend. I’ve learned that he means the world to me and I feel like I’m myself to the truest, tiniest speck of DNA when I’m with him. I thank him for putting up with me, cause really, I’m a hot mess. But he’s just spectacular.
Awe. Look at me, just gushing away.
I guess basically, I’m wishing both my blog and myself a happy birthday.
My birthday’s not until January, but it’s the birthday of a brand new me, which I’m happy to say is pretty cool and I’d kinda like her to stick around.
Next Year’s Goals
Hopefully by this time next year, my blog will gain some new followers. I really hate saying that I want my blog to be my only income, but I really would love to be making a living doing what I love, and blogging is part of that.
I’ll be working steadily (or, you know, at least SOMEWHAT steadily) as a freelance writer; writing about things I’m passionate about and things that I want to learn about.
I’d love to be more secure and stable in all aspects of my life; trust myself more, trust others more, basically just figure out why I’m so insecure sometimes and just let it go.
Overall, I just wish for another healthy, happy year.
So, let’s raise our wine glasses & cupcakes and toast ourselves – to making it a full year doing whatever we’ve been doing!
PS. That cupcake was delicious. Check out Prairie Girl Bakery if you live in/around the Toronto area.
