It’s almost the end of January – seriously, where did this month go? – and like most people I’ve decided to take this month to organize my apartment/life/whatever. I feel buried underneath SO much junk that’s floating around my apartment, and I’ve already started decluttering my closet and building a capsule wardrobe, so that’s one item checked off of my “to do” list.
But there’s still so much more to do, and lately, I’ve been having a hard time staying focused, organized, and on top of things.
If you’re like me, sometimes it’s a struggle to get up out of bed and get things done throughout the day. Gloomy winter days (not to mention the lack of vitamin D) don’t help the situation either; those are the days I REALLY don’t want to get out of bed. But, because I’m trying really, really hard to stay on top of everything I drag myself out of bed and make sure I get things done.Having trouble staying #organized? Here are three easy (but helpful) tips to keep you on track! #thebrunettewithablog Click To Tweet
So I have for you lovely readers three easy tips for staying organized!
Plan it out!
I can’t stress this one simple thing enough: plan out the things you need to get done. It’s kind of a “mind over matter” thing; you’ll feel like you have to get it done, because it’s written down. And obviously when something is written down, it’s a done deal. Unless it’s in pencil, so don’t do that.
I’ve made it even easier for all of you, my lovely readers, too, and I’ve got a freebie that has – wait for it – not one, but two weekly planners that I made (and actually use)! Print these out, plan it out, and watch how you’ll start getting more done!
It’s scientifically proven that the gratification of crossing an item off a list makes us more productive (if you don’t believe me, check out this article and see for yourself)!
I la-la-la-looooove lists! I make them all the time. ALL. THE. TIME.
I often use the “Notes” app on my phone to make checklists and keep track of whatever tasks I need to finish, or I’ll just use a plain ol’ piece of paper and a pen. Nothing – and I mean NOTHING – can compare to the feeling of crossing that last task of the day off. Sitting down and watching TV with a glass of wine at the end of the day will never feel so rewarding.
Prioritize your tasks!
If you have a huge list of tasks you need to get accomplished during the week, priority is key.
For example, say you want to make dinner, but your frying pan is dirty. In fact, all of the dishes you need are dirty. You’ll have to wash the dishes before making dinner, so washing your dishes is the priority task.
If you’re like me, you try to multitask and get multiple things done at once. Believe it or not, this is actually not the best way to get thing done, but it has taught me that prioritizing what needs to get done into tiers of importance actually is the best way to get things done.
And once you’re on a roll and can easily jump from task to task, it’s a very rewarding feeling.
Don’t forget to download my free weekly planners! They’ll help you out and increase your ability to organize!
There are tons of other things you can do, but these three things are what keep me as organized as I can possibly be.
